Air Conditioning Installation Las Vegas | HVAC Thermo
Service Overview

Air Conditioning Installation across Las Vegas.

A new AC in the Las Vegas desert has to handle 110-degree afternoons for months on end. HVAC Thermo sizes the system to your actual home, matches it to your ducts, and sets it up to run efficiently — so you get cooling that lasts, not a unit that struggles from day one.

The biggest mistake I see on AC installs in Las Vegas is the wrong size. An oversized unit short-cycles and never dehumidifies; an undersized one runs nonstop in July and wears out early. I run the numbers on your home first, then recommend a system that actually fits it.

What I see most often on an air conditioning installation call

  • The old unit was never sized right. A proper load calculation accounts for your square footage, windows, insulation, and sun exposure — not a rule-of-thumb guess from years ago.
  • Outdated, inefficient equipment. Older systems run far below today’s SEER2 efficiency standards, which shows up directly on your summer power bill.
  • Ductwork that doesn’t match the new system. Leaky, undersized, or poorly designed ducts choke a brand-new AC, so duct compatibility gets checked before anything is installed.
  • A system on its last legs. Replacement planning matters when an aging unit is limping along — I help you decide whether to install now or time it around your budget.
  • Thermostat and controls left behind. A new install is the right moment to set up a thermostat that matches the equipment and your schedule.
  • Comfort that never feels even. Hot back bedrooms and a cold living room often trace to sizing and airflow decisions made at install time.

How air conditioning installation works with HVAC Thermo

It starts with a load calculation, not a sales pitch. I measure your home, factor in the desert sun and your insulation, and recommend the right tonnage and a SEER2 efficiency level that makes sense for how you actually use the house. Bigger isn’t better — correctly sized is.

Before installation, I confirm your existing ductwork can deliver the airflow the new system needs, and flag any sealing or sizing issues that would otherwise hold it back. Then we set up the thermostat and verify the system is charged, balanced, and cooling the way it should before I leave.

If you’re weighing a new AC and want a straight answer on sizing and options, call +1 702-899-7693 and we’ll plan the install around your home and budget.

Why AC installation is different in the Las Vegas heat

An air conditioner in Las Vegas works in conditions most of the country never sees. Systems here run hard from late spring into fall, often through 110-degree afternoons, so the margins that forgive a mediocre install elsewhere don’t exist in the desert. A unit that’s even slightly oversized will short-cycle and never settle into an efficient rhythm; one that’s undersized runs flat-out all summer and burns through its lifespan years early. That’s why a real load calculation — not a quick guess based on the old equipment — is the foundation of every install we do.

The desert also punishes shortcuts in ductwork and charge. Leaky or undersized ducts bleed away the cooling a new high-SEER2 system was sized to deliver, and dust loading puts extra demand on airflow from day one. Getting the sizing, ductwork, refrigerant charge, and thermostat right at install time is what separates a system that quietly keeps up for years from one that struggles every July. We plan the whole install around how your home actually behaves in the heat, so the equipment you pay for is the comfort you get.

Our Process

How we plan and install a new air conditioner

Five steps, in order, with nothing hidden in between. You will know what is going into your home and why before any equipment is ordered.

  • 1. We walk the house and measure it. Square footage, ceiling heights, window count and orientation, attic insulation, and which rooms take the afternoon sun. That is the information a load calculation runs on, and it is why two identical-looking homes on the same street can need different tonnage.
  • 2. We inspect the ducts, electrical, and equipment pad. A new condenser needs a level pad, a correctly sized breaker and disconnect, and supply and return ducts that can actually move the air. Finding an undersized return now costs an hour. Finding it after the install costs a callback and a summer of weak airflow.
  • 3. We lay out real options with real numbers. Usually two or three: a solid single-stage system, a two-stage or variable-speed step up, and where it fits, a heat pump. You get what each one costs, what each is likely to do to your power bill, and where the extra money stops paying you back.
  • 4. We install it properly, not quickly. A new line set or a flushed and pressure-tested existing one, a fresh filter drier, brazing done under nitrogen so the inside of the copper stays clean, a vacuum pulled down and held to prove the system is dry, and the refrigerant charge weighed in rather than guessed at.
  • 5. We commission the system before we leave. Superheat and subcooling checked against the manufacturer’s target, static pressure read across the air handler, temperature split measured at the registers, thermostat programmed to your schedule, and warranty registration handled for you.
Who We Install For

Homes and businesses across the valley

Residential installation

Single-family homes, two-story houses with a stubborn upstairs, condos and townhomes with tight equipment closets, and older Las Vegas properties where the ductwork has been added to over the decades. Split systems, packaged units on the roof or on a slab, and gas-pack changeouts are all routine work.

If a house has rooms that never quite match the thermostat, we would rather solve that during the install — with return sizing, damper adjustment, or a ductless mini-split for the one room that fights the rest of the house — than hand you new equipment with the same old comfort problem.

Commercial installation

Offices, retail suites, salons, small restaurants, and light industrial spaces around Clark County. Most of that work is rooftop packaged units, and most of it has to happen without shutting the business down, so we schedule around your hours and stage the changeout to keep the space usable.

For buildings running several rooftop units on different service histories, our commercial HVAC side handles staged replacement planning, so you are not facing every unit failing in the same season.

Benefits

What a correctly installed system actually buys you

Not marketing promises — the specific differences between a system that was installed right and one that was simply swapped in.

  • Lower summer bills that hold up over years. Cooling is the largest line on most Las Vegas power bills from May through September. A right-sized, correctly charged system reaches setpoint and shuts off instead of running long past the point where it is doing useful work.
  • Rooms that finally match each other. When return air and supply airflow are sized to the equipment, the back bedroom stops running several degrees warmer than the living room every afternoon.
  • Quieter operation. Much of the noise people blame on the air conditioner is really air being forced through ducts that are too small. Correcting static pressure at install time makes the whole system noticeably quieter.
  • Fewer breakdowns in the years that matter. Short-cycling from an oversized unit and nonstop running from an undersized one are both ways of aging a compressor early. Correct sizing is the cheapest reliability upgrade available.
  • A warranty that stays intact. Manufacturers require correct installation and timely registration. We register the equipment and document the commissioning numbers, so a future claim does not get denied over paperwork.
  • A system that is easy to service. An accessible filter, clear space around the condenser, and a labeled disconnect make every future AC maintenance visit faster and cheaper.
Repair or Replace

Is it time for a new system, or is this one still worth fixing?

Usually worth repairing

A system under roughly ten years old with a single failed part — a capacitor, contactor, blower motor, or condenser fan motor — is normally a straightforward fix. The same goes for equipment still under manufacturer warranty, where the part is covered and you are paying for labor.

If the unit is holding its charge, the coils are clean, and the cabinet is sound, a repair usually returns years of service. Our AC repair side will tell you plainly when that is the case, even though replacement is the bigger job.

Usually worth replacing

Fifteen-plus years of desert summers, a failed compressor, or a leaking evaporator coil generally push the math toward replacement — especially on older R-22 systems, where refrigerant alone can make a recharge cost more than it is worth.

The other signal is frequency. Two or three repairs in consecutive summers on the same unit is money going into a system that will not last. When that is where you are, the AC replacement conversation is the honest one to have.

Efficiency & Upkeep

Getting the most out of a new system in the desert

A good install sets the ceiling on efficiency. What happens after decides how close you get to it.

  • Change the filter on a real schedule. Las Vegas dust loads filters faster than most of the country. A one-inch filter usually needs replacing every one to two months during heavy cooling; a restricted filter raises static pressure and drags efficiency down immediately.
  • Rinse the outdoor coil each spring. Dust, cottonwood, and landscaping debris pack into condenser fins and trap heat the system is trying to reject. A gentle rinse with the power off restores capacity you already paid for.
  • Give the condenser breathing room. Two feet of clearance on all sides and nothing overhanging it. Shrubs grown in tight against the cabinet are one of the most common reasons a newer unit starts running warm.
  • Use setbacks, not big swings. Letting the house drift a few degrees while you are out saves real money. Letting it climb twenty degrees means the system runs through the hottest part of the day trying to catch up.
  • Book maintenance before the season, not during it. A spring tune-up catches a weak capacitor or low charge while it is still cheap. The same fault found in July is an emergency call.
  • Fix duct leaks rather than out-cooling them. Air lost into a 140-degree attic is cooling you paid for and never received. Sealing the ductwork often does more for comfort than a higher efficiency rating would.
Why HVAC Thermo

Why Las Vegas homeowners have us do the install

HVAC Thermo is owner-led. William Bringhurst is there for the sizing visit and there for the installation, so you are not handed from a salesperson to a crew you have never met. That continuity is the reason the system we quote and the system you end up with actually match.

We do not work on commission, and we do not open by pitching the largest unit on the truck. If your existing system has years left in it, we will say so. If a mid-tier unit will serve your house better than the premium one, we will explain exactly why and let you decide. You can read more about how we work on our about page, or see everything we handle on our services page.

We install across the Las Vegas Valley — Henderson, Summerlin, North Las Vegas, Spring Valley, Paradise, Enterprise, Centennial Hills, and out to Boulder City. For a real load calculation and straight pricing on your home, call +1 702-899-7693 or send us a message and we will schedule the visit around you.

FAQ

Air conditioning installation questions Las Vegas customers ask

How do you decide what size AC my Las Vegas home needs?
We run a load calculation that accounts for your square footage, windows, insulation, ceiling height, and desert sun exposure — not a rule-of-thumb guess. Correct sizing matters more than raw tonnage, because an oversized unit short-cycles and an undersized one runs nonstop in July.
What SEER2 efficiency level should I choose?
It depends on how you use the home and how long you plan to stay. A higher SEER2 system costs more up front but uses less power during long Las Vegas cooling seasons. We explain the trade-offs so you pick an efficiency level that fits your budget and your bills.
How long does an AC installation take?
A straightforward changeout is usually completed in a single day. If ductwork needs sealing or modification, or the layout is more involved, it can take longer — we walk you through the timeline before we start so there are no surprises.
Will my existing ductwork work with a new system?
We check that before installing anything. Leaky, undersized, or poorly designed ducts choke a brand-new AC, so we confirm your ducts can deliver the airflow the new system needs and flag any sealing or sizing issues up front.
Which AC brands do you install?
We install and service major brands including Carrier, Trane, Lennox, Bryant, Goodman, Rheem, York, Amana, and American Standard. We help you match equipment to your home and budget rather than pushing one label.
Do you handle the permits and inspections?
We handle the paperwork side of a proper installation and set the system up to be inspected correctly. When you book, we explain what the process involves for your specific install so everything is done by the book.
